FAQ

Free to play. No stakes, no pot, no wager — points and bragging rights only.

Is Score Captain gambling?

No. There is no stake, no pot, no entry fee and no wager on any prediction. You cannot deposit money and you cannot withdraw money, because there is no money in the game. It is free to enter and sponsor-funded — never player-funded. The rule is enforced in our database, not just stated here: there is nowhere for a stake to be stored.

Is Score Captain free?

Entirely. There is no shop, nothing to buy, and no paid tier. Even the cosmetics are earned — frames unlock by playing and by doing specific hard things, and you never click buy.

Can I win money?

There is a monthly prize, funded by a sponsor. So the honest answer is yes — but note what you are not doing: you are not risking anything to be in it. Entry is free, nothing is staked, and you cannot lose. Gambling requires something at risk; free entry plus a prize is a contest. Most of what you win here is points, badges, frames and the argument.

How is this different from betting tips?

We are not tipping anything. A tips site tells you what to bet; this is a game where you call the score and get points for how hard the call was. Nobody here is placing a bet, and there is nothing to place one with.

Do I need an account?

You can predict as a guest — pick first, save later. Verifying your email unlocks the rest (posting, duels, the leaderboard) and you keep everything you earned as a guest.

How does the AI work, and how good is it?

It rates every team from results alone and locks a scoreline about eight hours before kickoff. Measured walk-forward on 1,443 matches it never saw, it calls 50.3% of results correctly — better than always picking the home side (~45%), short of a sharp bookmaker (~55%). We publish the number including where it loses: the full breakdown is on the about page.

What can I predict?

Football and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports, with more to come. Both live in open hubs you join with one tap, and their matches join your feed. Football runs across 12 competitions; esports starts with the Mobile Legends Mid Season Cup.

What football competitions are covered?

12 of them: FIFA World Cup, European Championship, UEFA Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Primeira Liga, EFL Championship, Brasileirão. Fixtures come from football-data.org; live scores from TheSportsDB.

How does the entry fee work?

It goes straight to the organiser — their bank details or DuitNow QR are on the screen the moment you enter, with a payment code to quote in the transfer. Money never passes through Score Captain and we take no cut of it. On a paid competition your slot is held for twelve hours, or until entries close, whichever comes first; pay in that time or it goes to the next team waiting.

How do I find a tournament to enter?

Open competitions are listed at open tournaments — filter by sport and by state, and every card shows the spots left, the closing date and the entry fee before you tap. Only verified organisers are listed, so a competition you find there is one somebody has checked is real.

Can I run my own tournament on Score Captain?

Yes, and it is free. Start a league from the Hub, open it for entries, and share the link: teams sign themselves up and paste their own squads, so you are not typing names into a spreadsheet. Draw the bracket in one tap. On the day you referee — you set the room and the kick-off time, both squads get told, and you keep the score. Teams never enter a result, so what the referee records is the result. Win a match and the app moves you into the next round by itself.

How are points worked out?

The harder a score is to guess, the more it pays — everyone calling a 1–1 draw earns a little; the one person who called the 4–3 earns a fortune. A wrong winner costs you points, so predicting every match is not free. The full payout rules are here.

Which score counts — does extra time count?

Only the 90-minute result — first half plus second half. If a match goes to extra time or penalties, that part is ignored, so we grade your pick against the score at full time.

How do I get help or report a problem?

Signed in, use the feedback page — it reaches a person and you can see the reply in the app. Otherwise email support@scorecaptain.com. Prize questions go to the same address.
