Most people who run a local tournament run more than one, and every time they start from nothing: a new group chat, a new poster, the same teams asked all over again. The reason is that the tournament is the only thing that exists — when it ends, everything it built up ends with it. An organiser page is the thing that does not end. The competitions sit on it, one after another, and the followers, the record, the badge and the sponsors belong to the page rather than to whichever cup happened to be running when you earned them.
Your page is you — the shop, the club, the association. Competitions come and go on it, one after another, and everything you build up stays with the page.
How to play it
- 1Make the page: your name, what's played, and where. Three questions, and only the name is required.
- 2Add a line about yourself. It is what shows under your name in Google and in the competitions list.
- 3Create a competition on it — name it, say how many teams and by when. This is the part people enter.
- 4Share your page. Teams enter from the link; you do not need to be listed or verified for that to work.
- 5Run it to the end. Then ask for the verified badge — it follows a record.
- 6Run the next one on the same page. Your followers are told, and your record grows instead of starting again.
Worth knowing
- THE PAGE IS NOT THE COMPETITION. Name the page after yourself, not after your cup — “Sarawak Badminton Association”, not “August Cup”. The cup gets its own name and its own page when you create it.
- You can run several competitions at once — men's, women's, junior — all on the one page.
- Anyone who follows your page is told when you open a new competition. Entering a competition follows the page automatically, so your entrants hear about the next one.
- Two organiser pages to start with, and five once one of them is verified. You can run as many competitions as you like on each — up to five at a time.
- Everything on the page can be changed later under Customise — crest, cover, colour, name, a pinned notice, the long version of who you are. Once you have the badge you can also claim a short address like /l/sarawak-badminton and put your WhatsApp group on the page.
